Krewes Centaur was first organized in 1991. The objective of the Centaur was the common goal of pursuing family entertainment and building a good community. The Krewes Centaur is part of the Mardi Gras Parade and has become one of the largest parades there is. The Centaur is north Louisiana’s largest parade and rivals many other parades held in New Orleans. The Krewe of Centaur was given the name in recognition of the mythological half man-half horse in Northwest Louisiana’s gaming and horse racing industry.
The Krewe Centaur established in 1991 serves as a nonprofit organization and has dedicated itself to several goals. The first being to develop the carnival of Mardi Gras in both Bossier and Shreveport cities. The second objective of the Centaur is to develop the cultural and economic aspects of Bossier and Shreveport cities. And the final goal is to build a fraternity and a community of the Krewe Centaur. The significance of the parade is to celebrate the biggest party of life and family in Louisiana. Many individuals have had the pleasure and entertainment of enjoying their close ties to the south. Celebrating Mardi Gras also encourages people from Arkansas, east Texas and others who might be able to visit New Orleans to join in their galaxy of festivities. The economy is greatly boosted with money being generously spent at businesses, restaurants and hotels. This is what the big picture of Krewe Centaur looks like. But is there a personal message in the midst of this celebration? Why do people from all walks of life join the Centaur?
The first and foremost thought is that it brings a lot of fun and enjoyment. This is also known as the Fun Krewe! The streets are packed with hoards of crowds, grand balls, endless parties, new friends, new relationships, happy times and good memories. Life as you know today is hectic and busy which has people wanting to let their hair down and dive in impulsively to experience a sense of community while enjoying it at the same time.
The Krewe of Centaur provides information on the parade description, parade dates, the route to the parade and the appropriate Mardi Gras terminology while you are in the town of Louisiana to enjoy the Centaur parade. The Krewe Centaur membership page is open to all the general public that are interested in becoming part of the community. The general public is also allowed to reserve a place on the float and at the party.
